1 Thessalonians… Get Ready!

At Fusion this Sunday night we will begin our new journey through the book of 1 Thessalonians. Like a father instructing his growing children, we are going to see Paul the Apostle urge the Thessalonians, and us today, to lead lives that are worthy of Christ's Kingdom, which will soon be established! If you are between the ages of 18-30ish, don't miss Fusion this Sunday night at Calvary Chapel Melbourne. For those of us that come to Fusion regularly, be inviting other young adults that God has put in your life for you to reach out to with the message of Jesus. See you Sunday!

This is what we are talking about this Sunday night at Fusion.

All based on Galatians 6:1, which says, "Brothers and sisters, if someone is caught in a sin, you who live by the Spirit should restore that person gently. But watch yourselves, or you also may be tempted."

As a Christ Follower, have you or a fellow believer ever been overcome by a onetime sin? How should you respond? How should the Church respond? How should fellow Christians react? God's goal is always forgiveness and restoration!

Invite a friend and come with an attitude of expectancy. to receive from God everything that He would seek to deposit into your life regarding this very real and practical issue that we face in daily life. See you this Sunday!

How To Deal with the Flesh?

"For the flesh desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the flesh. They are in conflict with each other, so that you are not to do whatever you want." (Galatians 5:17)

How to deal with the flesh:

1. Admit that you have a selfish, sinful human nature. (Jer. 17:9)

a. Jeremiah 17:9 (NLT) "The human heart is the most deceitful of all things, and desperately wicked. Who really knows how bad it is?"

2. Surrender your selfish nature, with all its tendencies to Christ. (Gal. 2:20)

a. Galatians 2:20 (NLT) "My old self has been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me. So I live in this earthly body by trusting in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me."

3. Commit your actions, thoughts, passions, and capabilities to Christ. (Lk. 9:23-25)

a. Luke 9:23-25 (NLT) "Then he said to the crowd, "If any of you wants to be my follower, you must turn from your selfish ways, take up your cross daily, and follow me. 24 If you try to hang on to your life, you will lose it. But if you give up your life for my sake, you will save it. 25 And what do you benefit if you gain the whole world but are yourself lost or destroyed?"

4. Make serving others a top priority in your life. (1 Tim. 4:7)

a. 1 Timothy 4:7 (NLT) "Do not waste time arguing over godless ideas and old wives' tales. Instead, train yourself to be godly."

It is important for us to note that Paul is not saying that these forces are equal (the flesh and the Spirit); the "take away" for us to understand and apply is that the Holy Spirit is infinitely stronger!

Hello Fusion!

The last few weeks in Fusion have been a little crazy, in a good way! We have all grown in God's Word and young adults have come to know Jesus Christ personally, and we praise God for that! Last week we had our first ever House Party, good times! The week before that we celebrated the 1 year anniversary of our Fusion ministry at our Viera campus. So there has kind of been a lot of moving and shifting over the last two weeks and I want to personally thank you for being flexible. Well, with all that said, I am stoked to inform you that this week will be "normal" (whatever that means). Normal as far as our regular Fusion service will be back in the youth center worship room at Calvary Chapel's Melbourne campus this Sunday night at 6:05p.m. We will be blessed to have Anna Folkerts share a presentation with us about all that God has been doing in and through her life over the last few semesters as a Bible College student in Peru, you don't want to miss her story! And I am so excited about slowing down our teaching pace this week in the Book of Galatians. As of today, God is speaking to me about a few key verses that we young adults need to learn from this week! You don't want to miss His Word! I love you and I look forward to seeing you this Sunday night!

Main points from last Sunday nights Fusion teaching on “Spiritual and Moral Direction” taken from Judges Ch. 18-19

1. Without God and His directions, we are lost spiritually and morally.

2. Spiritual and moral direction comes from God (His Word), not from man, religion, culture or government.

3. Spiritual leaders must be in right relationship with God to effectively lead His people and all CF's must be mature enough to spot a phony.

Question: What direction are you headed in spiritually and morally? Are you allowing God to direct your steps?

Psalm 119:35 "Direct me in the path of your commands, for there I find delight."

Psalm 119:133 "Direct my footsteps according to your word; let no sin rule over me."

2 Thessalonians 3:5 "May the Lord direct your hearts into God's love and Christ's perseverance." (Also our memory verse for this week)

4. Idol (Anything that replaces God in my life) worship causes people to totally miss God.

2. Fusion White Christmas Dinner (December 16th)
- For Christ-centered fellowship
- That the event would be fun
- That the event would bring honor to our Lord as we celebrate our Saviors birth
- That the Holy Spirit would use this event to reach out to young adults who have never been to Fusion and who may not even know God.
- That the event would pack out

3. Calvary Chapel Port-Au-Prince
- For the spread of the Gospel in Port-Au-Prince
- For the financial support project that Fusion is doing in support of CCAP
- Fusion 2012 Missions trip planning

4. Gospel for Asia
- For the spread of the Gospel of Jesus Christ in the 10/40 window
- For the "Jesus Well" support project we are doing as a young adult ministry

5. For Bobby and Katie Hamlett (Missionary couple to Thailand:www.the-hamletts.com)
- Continue in their learning and speaking of the Thai language
- For their time in the U.S. (Dec. and Jan)
- For evangelism opportunities for the "Community Team" in December centering around Christmas

Hello everyone! We are so excited to celebrate with you the birth of our Lord this Christmas season! Fusion will be hosting a White Christmas Dinner on Friday, December 16th 2011 from 7-9:30p.m. in the Caf� Dinning Room at Calvary Chapel's Melbourne campus. The event is for young adults between ages 18-30ish, single, dating, engaged, married, doesn't matter. There will be a live band, door prizes, giveaways, and much more! The event is formal and will have a four course catered dinner, it's going to be so good! Childcare is not available. The tickets for this event are $34.00 each and can be purchased online by clicking on the link below. You can also purchase your tickets at the church bookstore at the Melbourne campus. Relationship Q & A Session!

This week at Fusion (Sunday night October 30th at 6:05p.m.) we will be doing a Q & A session on relationships. Jared and his wife Aubree (Fusion leaders at CCMS) along with Keith and Katie (Fusion leaders at CCMV) and Beau and Sharalyn are doing a Q & A session on relationships. Shane and the worship leader from Fusion in Viera (Andy) are leading the worship set together. This is the first time that all three Fusions will be gathered together! If you are between the ages of 18-30ish, married or single, this will be an exciting night that you won't want to miss! Hello everyone! Don't forget to read Judges 11:12-28 and then we will be looking at the rest of the chapter this coming Sunday night! But let me ask you something first. Have you ever made a promise that you just couldn't keep? You ever gotten yourself wrapped up in commitments that you just couldn't follow through on? What about when we make rash vows, commitments or promises to God? Is God even into vows and promises? God is going to lead us into truth regarding this often overlooked topic as we look at one of Israel's past leaders who followed through on a vow that is unimaginable. God has so much for us to receive from Him for the benefit of our lives! See you this Sunday night!
